  1. There is a vast difference between harvesting long ago and harvesting at the present time. Long ago the people had to cut the corn with reaping hookd and it used to take hem a long time to cut it. First they made a band and left it on the ground. Then they cut a dornán and left it on the band. It took four dornáns to make a sheaf. When they had enough of sheafs cut they made stooks of them. It takes twenty sheafs to make a bart and ten sheafs to make a stook. Long ago people had very hard work to do and whent hey had the corn cut some of them had sore hands. The corn is cut now with a scythe or a mowing machine. They would cut as much in one day now with a mowing maching as they would cut with a reaping hook in a fortnight long ago. Long ago on a Sunday, men from Mayo called Condaw
