  1. The people long ago were very superstitious. They always believed in ghosts and fairies and banshees. Nowadays you would never hear people talking about ghosts. I heard an old person tell a story about a man that was married and his wife died. He had three young children. He was a working man and he got a woman to mind the children. The woman would go home every night. One night it was late when he was coming home and wehn (and when) he was coming near his house he saw great light in the house and he said to himself that some of the children must be sick when the woman had not gone home. When he went in to the room he saw his wife looking at the children. This is another story I heard abou a woman who was married and her husband died. Shortly after his death. He appeared to his wife at night. She told the priest about it and he told her to shake Holy Water and to ask him what he wanted. The next day that he
