My dear native village, farewell to the day, when my young bosom bounded across the deep sea...

Composed by Roger Burns, Loughanelton, Calry.
He emigrated to America in the early 80s. Some of his descendants are still living in Canada. His Irish kinsfolk reside in the old homestead.
My dear native village, farewell to the day,
When my young bosom bounded across the deep sea.
How sad then to me was the wild ocean roar
When I left thee for ever to return no more.
Loughanelton where oft the lone valleys I toiled.
Rocks of my birth place, romantic and wild,
Where Rheubus at morn shows its first radiant rays.
    And at eve when returning
    Throws its last radiant gaze.
    Carrickoneilleen, thy charms I wail,
Eden of Erin and classical vale,
Vale of the wild coves and midnight banshee.
Phantoms of ages, have a refuge in thee
