When the eggs are being put down for hatching a red cross is put on them, and a sprinkle of Holy water. The hen lies on the eggs for three weeks. The shell begins to break and out comes the fluffy chicken.Sometimes there is a danger that the hen will walk on them and kill them but as they get bigger they are able to keep out of her way. When they get big the hen leaves them to fight for themselves.
