  1. I live in the townland of Lislahelly. It is situated in the Parish of Drumcliffe in the Barony of Carbery, Co. Sligo.
    The townland got it’s name from a fort, because if a person were to stand on the top of Benbulbin mountain he could see a fort and it forming a half circle in the townland. Lislahelly means the fort of the half townland.
    There are eleven families living in it, ten of whom are Catholics. It has a population of fifty. There are three families related by marriage.
    There are four old-age pensioners:
    Mrs Mc Glore, Lislahelly, Drumcliffe, Sligo
    Mrs. McGowan " "
    Mrs. Nicholson " "
    And Mr. Michael Gilroy of the same address.
    Some of these people have some old Irish sayings, but English is generally spoken
    The houses were more numerous in former times, as there were nearly twenty houses in Lislahelly about fifty years ago.
