- This man got it from Palmerston. His name was Cooper and he added Temple; - thus "Cooper-Temple." Temple is the name of a townland in the estate - teampuill or church.
As soon as Cooper took over the estate he at once raised the rent and stopped £10 bonus given to teachers. The tenants formed in a body and went in to see him. After much bickering he agreed not to raise it. He was very severe on the tenants and gave no help in anyway to them.
