took up the dead body and put down an old dead goat instead.
The police were out in search of the minister and Tom told them that his mother smothered him in a chest and buried him in the garden.
They asked Tom for a spade to dig the hole.
When they were digging for awhile, Tom said, " Give it to myself, you are no good."
He was not long digging until he came to the goat's horns.
"Oh! said Tom, " the minister must have turned into a devil since he went into the hole."
He threw the spade away and ran home.
Then the police went away thinking that Tom was making a fool of them.
After all this Tom got a fine house built. He got married and there was great sport at the wedding.
