Once an old woman lived with her son Tom. He was called Tom the amadhaun because he was a simpleton.
They were very poor and they had only one cow. One day the old woman sent Tom to the fair to sell the cow. She told Tom to ask four pounds for the cow. She, also, told him not to take the first or second bid but to take the third bid.
Tom then went to the fair. There, a man came to him and said, " How much do you want for the cow?"
"Four pounds," said Tom.
"I'll give you three, " said the man.
"Well" said Tom, "my mother told me not to take the first or second bid, but to take the third bid."
