    Children around here make tops. The way they make them is this.
    They get a block of wood and after shaping a small top out of it they put a nail in the fire. When the nail gets red they put it down through the top. The reason they make the nail red is so thar it will make a hole up the top without cracking it.
    When the nail is up as far as the children want it they point the end of the nail and spin it the usual way.
