About twenty five years ago a man named Mike Mahoney from Inch went to buy cattle at Dingle Fair. At this time a French sail boat was unloading salt at Dingle.
One of the crew became friends with Mahoney and the two of them drunk early in the morning. Mahoney brought no cattle but he spent his money on drink.
As night came on he looked for lodgings but he could find none. The seaman told him that he could spend the night in the ship. Mahoney entered the ship but the captain and the rest of the crew knew nothing about the stranger in the ship.
About two o'clock that night the captain ordered the crew to sail the ship out to sea.
When the ship was about three miles to the west of the Blasket Islands one of the crew told the captain that there was a stowaway on board.
The captain lowered a small boat at once and he put Mahoney into it and also two of the crew to row him to the islands. When the small boat returned the ship sailed away.
When Mahoney did not return home his friends were searching the sea shores(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
