About sixty years ago there lived a man named Lenihan in a little thatched house in a field called "Móinfhéar Mór" in Derrymore West. This field now belongs to Jim Sullivan.After three or four years the roof of his house was getting worn. One day he went to pick briars to keep the new thatch on the house. He carried a hook and also a stick because he was lame.He picked them along the "baile Séaghdha" road and when he came to "Torra Cuillín" church in Tom Sullivan's farm he saw long briars that were very suitable for a house. He went into the church for them but they were too far out of the reach of the hook. Then he got the stick to bring the briars out to him but the stick fell and his leg got alright. He walked home without the use of the stick.
