  1. The Famine was not felt very much in this district because most of the people are farmers. There were more people in the parish before the Famine than there are now.
    The blight came on the potatoes when they were growing. The ridges can still be seen where the potatoes were set in the time of the Famine.
    When the potatoes failed to grow the people used to eat fish and cockles and milk. They used to eat grass and seaweeds also. The poorer people had nothing to eat so some of them went to the poorhouse in Dingle. There was not room enough for them in the Dingle poorhouse.
    A man named Hussey owned a big house in Liscarney. He lent it to the poor people. Two Doctors and a nurse used to mind the people who had the fever. A school teacher lived in the poorhouse also so as to teach the children.
    When the people were dying of fever the doctors used to run out on the fields the people used to scream so loudly. When the people died
