- The turkey is a very large bird. She is about the size of a goose, or bigger. Every farmer's wife keep about forty turkeys every year. We have four of them at home.
The eggs are never eaten, nor sold, but they are hatched. The first thing my mother does with the turkey eggs is to put them in a nest. Then she gets a hatching hen, and puts her hatching on the eggs for about a month.
Then the young turkeys come out. They are fed with hard boiled eggs when they are small. They are fed thrice a day. When they grow older they are put out in the field.
