- Long ago in Eire many wandering pipers went about from place to place playing music for the people. The piper I am going to tell about was named Martin Walsh but everybody called him "Piper Walsh". This piper lived in "Sraith i Márla" which means the swamp of the marle in the parish of Kilmactiege. He played all sorts of tunes, his favourite tune being "Miss McCloud's Reel". He was an excellent player on the bag pipe and any tune he would hear he was able to play it. One night this piper stayed in Kilgannons a little tourist hotel at Lough Talt.
