  1. About sixty years ago there were very few English thatchers round here. At that time it was what they used to level the houses with straw and hay, and put a thin coat of straw or rushes over it.
    The only good thatcher that was in this place was Thomas Walshe. He used to start at the top of the village and thatch all houses down with him. The people would
