Long ago there used to go round the country men named Poor Scholars. One of these men went to a house and asked the people to give shelter and something to eat. They let him in. Then they put a pot of stirabout on the fire for the supper. The night fell and it became very dark. The people had no lamps at this time. They put a lump of fur into the fire and it blazed up and gave them light. The Poor Scholar got his supper also. Then the man of the man of the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
