    Cashen River - casán - a 'path', this river being the path or way into Kerry.

    Lixnaw - on the River Buck four miles from Ballyduff. Called by the Four Masters Lic-snamha - "the flagstone of the swimming". This place is historically famous as the seat of the Fitzmaurice family.
    Knopogue - The name of the townland means a little hill or knoll.
    Ferry Bridge - Formerly crossed by ferry boat and stepping stones - then a wooden bridge. The metal bridge was made about thirty-five years ago.
    Milford - About a mile from Ballyduff had a cloth mill there long ago.
    Ballyduff Parish - extended over River Feale and took in Mevoo, Ballyooneen, did not extend farther back than McCarthy's river Knopogue, Path. Sullivan's bridge near Clahane Cross and back to Dromartin (did not take in the Cashen).
