There is a field in our farm by the name of "Ballyheigue". We have heard by tradition the reason why it was called "Ballyheigue". In former days before public roads were made it was a public pathway by the men and women of Ballyheigue on their way to Tralee which was their market town. In that particular field they used to rest and put on their boots to finish their journey.
The field adjoining is called the "Doctors Garden". It was called this because in olden days a man by the name of Doctor Crump lived there.
He was different to the doctors of nowadays. He had no dispensary no medicines of any description but what himself used make of herbs. People came to him from every side of the county that had any sores or skin eruptions of any kind and he healed them within a short time.
