One of the gratest and bravest men of the present generation is the late J. P. O Sullivan of Firies. He was the champion of Kerry. He was also a great weight thrower he cast a 56 lb weight 25 feet from where he stood.
The gratest runner of our generation was "Welch" of Tralee. He travelled all over Kerry to the different sporthsfields. Where he defeated many who ran against him. He won many silver medals. He won the name of Welch the champion of Kerry.

Shoen Burns was a native of Listowel. One day he went to the bog with a horse and car. When he was coming home he met a high hill and the horse would not pull up the rail of turf. Shoen untackled the horse and he pulled the rail of turf up the hill. It is said he was a very strong man.
