It is said that this following event happened fifty of sixty years ago.
A great feast was going on in Ballymacaquim Castle, and the daughter of the owner of the Castle, at the time, jumped from the highest window to the ground without being in the least hurt. She did this in order to escape the attentions of a suitor whom she disliked, and whom her father had invited to be present at the feast. The boy with whom she was in love, whose name was Browne, slipped in unnoticed and uninvited to the Castle. He was seen however by the rejected suitor, who managed to shift him away and locked him into a bedroom. The man got into bed, and lay down with his head at the foot of the bed and his legs on the top. Soon after the enraged suitor rushed in, and it being dark, he cut off the man's legs, instead of the head, and carried off the head, and left the legs on the bed.
Another night after that, the two legs rode to the Castle on horseback, went in, and sat on a chair near the table. He pointed to the other man who was present, then walked out again.
