Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There is a ruined Castle in the townland of Old Courts which is in the parish of Kilearagh and in the barony of Clanmaurice and in the County of Kerry. This building was built by Thomas Fitzmaurice who was the son of Maurice Fitzgerald. This district was granted to Maurice Fitzgerald by Raymond Le Gros at the time of the Norman Invasion. The Castle was built in the year 1200. It has been derelict since the year 1780. It was built on the left bank of the river Brick.
    The people in it were so rich and lived in a such a splendid manner that a lady once said that there were only two places to live in, Lixnaw and London. There was a wall built all round the lands of this Castle. The Castle was very big and there were several offices in it. It was the scene of many gay parties and entertainments. The following story is told
