The castle which was erected in Glenlappa was said to be built with a mixture of blood and mortar.

The castle which was erected in Glenlappa was said to be built with a mixture of blood and mortar. Once, when a horse and her foal were grazing near the castle. a shot was fired which frightened them. They both took to their heels. and without stopping they jumped from the top of the glen down into the river, and today the print of the horse's hooves can be seen on the solid rock. There is also a field not far from the castle which is called the field of the gallows. It received its name because it was in that field that the English used to hang all guilty people.
