  1. Some years ago there lived a priest by the name of Fr. Martin. He was the Parish Priest of Athea. One day he was reading Mass and was at the Consecration when Archdeacon Gould, a Protestant Minister tipped him on the shoulder. He wanted to apologise for two young ladies who were after telling lies about the priest.
    The priest warned him not to speak until Mass was over, but he paid no attention to him. The priest did not answer him, and Archdeacon Gould was struck as he was going out the door. He had to be taken out of the town by the hand and he was blind for the remainder of his life.
