There was a fort in Kilbaha, and a very old woman lived alone in the fort. It happened one night, that the fairies came and killed her. For years after there used be frightful singing and dancing and merriment heard there, and people going the road late at night, were taken into the fort, and had a good supper and spent their night there. In the morning they found themselves out on the road. It was the custom for many years after, that any man, woman or child passing the fort should throw a stone in and then nothing would happen to them. After a couple of hundred years the heap of stones was so great, that the fort could not contain them. When the danes invaded Ireland, they drew all the stones from the fort at their backs to Glennalappa and built a fine castle there, which was called
