  1. Farmers in this district sow from ½ to 2 or 3 acres of potatoes. We sow about two acres of potatoes every year.
    The ridge-system is - rising ridges with a double mould board plough. The manure is placed in heaps at the end of every third or fourth row, and then spread at the bottom of each ridge. The seeds are laid upon the manure. The ridges are then split over the dung and seeds, and the work is done. This work is sometimes done with spades.
