- Long ago the farmers used make their own candles. Some of the sheep used die from being too fat, and they used get the fat of the animals. They used to melt this fat. They used to have an affair called a "mould" so that you could make three candles at the time. They used to have thread of their own as wicks for the candles. They used to tie this wick at the bottom of the "mould" and pour the melled fat into the "mould". In winter they used to make these candles. They never sold them. These candles used to be about a foot long.
