From 1826 till 1931 the Orangemen never attempted to hold their walk in Ballinamore, or in the immediate neighbourhood . In 1931 an attempt was made to hold the Orange Walk in Newtowngore, about 5 miles from Ballinamore. The following lines written by Mr. Patrick Flood, Court Clerk, Ballinamore, tell the result of this attempt:The Orangemen were organized,
As they never were before,
To honour old King Billy
On the twelfth at Newtowngore. The platform was erected
On Newtown's peaceful green,
And waving o'er the speakers' stand
The Union Jack was seen.Henderson of Killeshandra,
The licence did obtain,
To serve them with refreshments,
And made substantial gain.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
