  2. Digging Spudawn

    What is known as Spudawn is dug only in my townland Bohey. The land in Bohey is wet and heavy.
    Spudawn is dug in this way.
    A wet heavy field that cannot be ploughed is dug with the loy in early Spring February or early March. Dig the ridge and set the potatoes and put the manure on top of the ridge and mould them.
    In spudawn you do not put the manure on the ridge until the potatoes are set
