- There are many old and historic roads about this district especially the "French Road". This road commences at Turk hill or Turk lane. It is said that when the French were on their way to Ballinamuck they travelled on this route. This road is also called "The Valley of the Black Pig". He also travelled that way but he met with his fate at Ballinamuck. There are many lanes bearing queer names about this district, such as the "Saint's lane" and "Hopkin's lane". The "Saint's lane" derives its name from St. Bearac who was a great Saint and used this pass.St. Bearac was born in Gortnaloher about three miles from Cloone. He travelled that pass every day when going to Cloone monastery. Ever since it has been called the "Saint's Pass". It leads through Cloone bog.In my district there is a lane which goes through Tooma and Drumshanbo(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
