  1. One day a rural postman named Patrick Farrell was counting letters in Derrycarne in shelter of a great tree.
    It was around Xmas time and the weather was very bad. He had a big mail and he was much vexed with the friends who were sending rotten post-cards.
    Another man named John McGuire was behind the ditch and heard all the talk. He jumped up quickly and asked him who he was talking to.
    "Oh" replied Farrell "I'm talking to myself and I couldn't be talking to a more decent man".
