  1. About eighty years ago most of the children of the country wore no boots until they reached the age of twelve years. A common saying amongst the old people was "If you have boots in the cradle you will have none when able". There are no accounts of those people now. Michael Molloy who lives in my district made very heavy boots called "Brogs". He sold them in the market. His father also made clogs and boots. Laheen wood gets it name "The Tannyard" because leather was tanned here in former times.
