- I think this townland (Drumcleavery) is called after an old craft chabaire or Cleeve maker.
They were great basket makers who lived here in olden times. They made hurdles too, for crossing the river.
They put fine rods in a big pot and boiled them, let them cool, and peeled them, from these they made baskets.
They made hand basket too with handles and lids.
