  1. Once upon a time a poor man and his wife lived in a little hut in a wood. One day they were out cutting wood and the man began sweating. He began swearing and saying that he would kill Eve if he were Adam for eating the apple. There was a gentleman's house near by and the gentleman was listening to all the poor-man was saying but he did not pretend to be. He came up to them and told them that he would give them a good dinner in his house. They went and he placed all kinds of dishes before them. When he was leaving them he said "Ye can eat off all the dishes but that one. The woman was wondering what was in that dish, "Do not mind it when he told us not to touch it", said the man. They would not be satisfied until she knew . At last to satisfy her he took the lid off the dish and out flew a bird. They were sorry then and when the gentleman came he said to them " ye did the very same thing as Adam and Eve and you should not be cursing them because they are in heaven.
