- There are crosses made in honour of Saint Brigids and Saint Patrick. Saint Brigids cross is plaited straw wound around two pieces of sticks. It is usually made by the man of the house. They are put up on the roof with a horse-nail. Saint Patricks cross is made of rushes with a bit of shamrock in the centre of it. It is put up on the roof with a nail.
There are branches brought into the house - Palm on Palm Sunday, holly and ivey at Christmas and branches of trees and wild flowers on May day. Holy water is brought from the church into the house on Easter Sunday. Whit Sunday and Christmas day. Water is brought from Saint Kerrills well which is called Cnoc Mor on the thirteenth of June. It is believed it keeps away all lightning because Saint Kerrill said "Lightning will do no harm to this parish
