- There is a hill convienent to Castleblakeney about two hundred yards from here. It is called Cruice Lawn Hill it belonged to the O Kelly's. There were three Tims in it one in Mullacmore one in Aughrim and one in Cruice Lawn. There was a castle on the top of that hill one time. They were the bravest in Ireland. On the top of the hill there was big flag stones going up to it and the used to have all the feasts there. When he died the Blakeney's came to this castle and the village was called after the O Kelly's and Blakeneys and it was called Castleblakeney that means Gallach Uí Cealluig the Castle of the brave of Kelly's.
