There was a man in New York now and he is a famous black and white artist for years. He was born in Meen, about three miles from Listowel well over seventy years. His name is John O'Flaherty. His two brothers are still living in Meen and they are farmers.
As a boy he attended blownmacon national school, and left it when he had spent two years in sixth class. He could draw anything with a pen or pencil.
On one occasion he drew a ten pound note and it was such a good copy that even, the bank manager in Listowel was almost deceived by it. This was natural talent. It was easy for him to get on, when he went to America.
