Saffron was also used for dyeing. It was drawn like senna by the fire for some time. It was then diluted with water and articles dipped in this mixture came out a beautiful golden brown.

Another shade of blue - Royal Blue - was got by getting a weed called the Bog-bane - to be found in bogs, and boiling it. The thread or cloth was soaked in it for some time.Spinning wheels were made by a wheelwright. The only wheelwright in this district was Ben Smith of Smearla Bridge.- Bailitheoir
