    Long ago there lived a man by the name of Jack Buckley in Clounmacon.

    Long ago there lived a man by the name of Jack Buckley in Clounmacon. He had a small mud house in a field near Mooneys which is now called Buckley's field. When Jack was about twenty years of age he fell from a load of hay and broke his leg in two parts. He then had to get a cork leg but it was not of much use to him. Jack feared no ghosts and could not be frightened by anyone. One night he was coming home from a horse fair in Tralee and as he drew near Scannell's gate he heard a noise of the gate rattling.
