  1. Many say that there was a girl named Fill bathing in the river long ago. She thought she heard her brother calling her and swam across. Then she heard his voice on the other side and swam there. She kept swimming until she was spent out and then she was drowned. They say the fairies in the wood nearby were jealous of her, and did not want her to live because she was more beautiful than they.
    The river was called the Feale after her.

  2. They say it was built by the Normans, and they built it on the edge of a cliff. The people say that they used to kill human beings and plastered the walls with their blood, and roast their meat and eat it.
    When the Normans died, the castle was deserted and it began to fall away bit by bit
