Oat meal boiled in sour milk for fifteen minutes. Add sugar and a little newmilk. (Very good for a cold.)
Stirabout
There was always a large pot of stirabout boiled for the supper and the breakfast. Same pot in which they boiled the potatoes. No second pot in a house (18 gallons) At times they had buttermilk with the stirabout. Well to to people had a little butter and buttermilk for their dinner with potatoes. The mugs they used were of wood and had two handles and some had four handles. - One time there was a man in the work house of Glenamaddy that was a bit silly. He tried to go from the work house a few times but he was captured every time. At last when he could not escape he cut his throat. The blood dashed on the wall and floor. When the man was buried the people tried to get the blood off the wall and floor. They got it off the was allright, but they could not get it off(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
