- Local Forge.The local forge is situated quite convenient to Newbridge church in town land of Dervolanagher. The Smith is Andrew McTernan He is married to a woman name of Flynn. Her father was a smith & owned this forge.The Flynn family were smiths for many years back.The forge is near a crossroads and a little stream runs alongside it.The forge itself is about 12 or 14 feet lg & same broad. It is thatched one door & two windows, but no glass in windows. closed up at night with little doors on shutters. There is half-door in it. one fire place There is large bellows anvil 2 big sledges & big tongs. hammer & pinchersHe shoes, horses, & asseses. He makes láiges, a farm implement which is used for digging the earth(continues on next page)
