A. A name. - In the year 1887 Glencar National School was built by the Rev. P. booke. In olden times there was a church where the school now stands. Close to the school there is a hill. The people call it the chapel hill yet although there is no church near it now.
Opposite the school there is a hall. A landlord named Parke got this hall built here to prevent people from walking on his land. They had to walk down the bed of the river when they were coming to Mass. This landlord was living at Dunalley near Sligo.
Some time after the school was built it was burned. One morning when the neighbours went out all that was to be seen was four blackened walls. Every thing else that(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
