  1. There is a pot of gold hidden in a spot known as the Clover field in the town-land of Leclasser neat where the old chapel was. Tradition says that a life must be lost before the treasure is found. There is a serpent shaped like eel guarding it. This eel goes to drink every day to the chapel Alt. It is said that (that) the treasure might be discovered without the loss of a life if anyone knew when this animal goes to drink and the exact spot where the treasure is.
    One time there lived in the townland of Curraghmore an English settler named Captian Gore. During his stay there a highway man was dis-covered in the district. Captain Gore and his neighbours surrounded the high-way man and told him to surrender. He told Captain Gore to mind his own business and that he would mind his, telling him at the same time,
