The terrible wind died away, the lamps was again alight, the tables and chairs in their places unbroken and all was quiet and still. The people looked from one to another and at last Shauns absence was noticed. Everyone said that he was taken by the fairies. Shaun was indeed taken by the fairies and for two years his old mother lived alone in there cabin. One evening while passing by the old lios she heard the same fateful tune and she stood listening. While she was listening she saw the fairy host emerge from the lios all mounted on black charges and in their middle the two fairy fiddlers on either side of him, was Shaun with his pipes under his arm. The old woman often went to the lios after this hoping to see Shaun but she knew that she could not break the spell which bound him. One evening an old woman asked Shauns mother to give her lodging for a few nights. On the very first night the old woman noticed her hostess' sorrow and before long she knew the reason. She then said that she carried with her a relic which she knew would break the spell. Shauns mother could hardly wait until next evening to go to the lios but next evening she was disappointed. One evening a week later the two woman were rewarded for their performance when they saw the fairy host come from the lios each one carrying a "Buacalann Buide" which they placed on the ground.
