  1. In olden times the people did not wear shoes. Some people never wore a shoe. They walked on their bare feet. Shoes were not known until about twenty years ago.
    The people were not able to walk with shoes because their feet were flattened out from walking bare-footed and when they put on the shoes they were not able to walk comfortably in them.
    The people used to wash their feet every night before going to bed. They alway threw out the foot-water because the old people used to say that if you left the foot-water in the house the fairies could obtain power from the foot-water to open the doors and enter the houses.
