- A Holy WellThere is a holy well in my parish. It is called Saint Bernard's Well. It is about a mile from the road. It is in between two hills. There is a long path leading to the well. A beautiful tree overshades the well. It received its name Saint Bernard's well in account of the stick of Saint Bernard being found there. There is a story about the stick being found there. It was found by a blind girl who was drawing water from the well. At first this well was used as any ordinary well. This girl was blind and she was accustomed to drawing the water from it. One day she came with her pitcher for water. She hit her foot against the stick. Thinking it was a stone she picked it up to have the path clear for the next time she would come. When she caught hold of it it was a stick and to behold her sight was restored. She looked at the stick and she saw grooved into it Saint Bernard's name. She ran home rejoicing for she had restored her sight(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
