  1. Festival Customs
On chalk Sunday the Sunday before Lent the people used to go around and chalk back of any young person that was not married.
On St Brigid's night the people make a straw cross and put it up in the house in her honour.
Long ago there lived an old woman and on St Brigids night she used to dress herself and a twig up and go around dancing.
On St Martins Eve the people kill a cock and spill some of the blood in a corner of the house in honour of St Martin.
Long ago on Novembers night the primeboys used to go around and bang cabbage stalks at the doors where young people lived that were not married.
On Novembers night long ago any pair that were going together for a long time used to melt lead to see if they would be ever married.
