  1. On St Stepnen's Day boys and grown up men go from house to house with the wren. They go in procession. Two, three and four of the party are masked, and wear comical clothes. Other members have musical instruments and they play. They that are masked dance.
    The leader of the masked ones called the "Fool" recites rhymes at every door.
    The following is some of the rhymes.
    The wren, the wren, the King of all birds
    St Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze.
    Down with the kettle and down with the pan.
    And give us a shilling to bury the wren.
