    meal consisted of potatoes and butter-milk.
    The table which the people used was a skib made of rods, to put the potatoes on, and set in the middle of the floor, and all sit around it. Some times they used to eat oatmeal bread.
    In later times people began to buy a stone of flour at Christmas for which they had to walk to Castle-Coote mill for, as there was no other flour-mill in the district. I often heard my grand-father sat that his mother was the first woman in the village to buy a stone of flour.
