Ar an leathanach seo
- We have a horse, three cows, 12 calves, 4 sheep and 4 lambs, a dog and a cat at home. The cows are known from one another by the red one, the blue one and the new one. If a cow went into a wrong field the person after her would say "thart annso" to make her come out. When driving the words "thart amach annseo" are used.
The cow house is a long building with a paved floor. It is divided into 5 stalls by wooden frames. Barley straw is used for bedding and the cows eat straw and hay, also steeped beet pulp. The cows are tied to the frames while in the stable with chains around their necks. Long ago the cows used to be tied with aa straw rope called a "ceannaise". Out in the fields the cows are tied by a chain from one foot to the other in the same side. This is called a side-lang. Sometimes if the side-lang does not do, the cow is tied by a rope from her fore-foot to her horn, and sometimes a(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
